On This Mountain (Isaiah 25:6-9)
Isaiah also seems to think there’s more to see. We’ve lived with a vision of reality that includes the clutching, grasping, irresistible pursuit of death. But Isaiah sees more.
Isaiah envisions a world where God reigns on a holy mountain. And on this mountain Death no longer calls the shots. You see, our problem, I think, is a problem of vision. It’s difficult to envision a world in which we take Death seriously and still profess that Death has no claim on us.
