Equality the Way God Sees It (Matthew 20:1-16)

But who said anything about deserving? In the reign of God, we’re valuable not based on our production, not based on how much we’re worth, not based on how many hours we’ve put in out in the fields. We’re valuable because, by the grace of God… God says we’re valuable.
People who work for two hours and people who work all day. Impoverished people. The uninsured. Immigrants. LGBTQ+ people. People not born in this country. People who’ll die without adequate healthcare coverage. White middle-class iPhone Duo owners. God says we all have equal value.
Consequently, spending our lives identifying our worth by any other measure is not only pointless, but it’s a distraction, verging on sinfulness—because we ceaselessly grasp at something we don’t have, thinking that possessing it will finally make our lives worthwhile… when God has already said our lives are valuable, based on nothing more than the love God used in creating them.
